Born
on April 6, 1970, Rob Lauer has lived a life dedicated to
volunteerism. At the University of Southern California, he studied
political science and also served on the student senate. While
rendering services as an officer cadet in the Army Reserves, he
studied military science.
In
the 1992 elections, he was a member of President George H.W. Bush's
advance team. In addition, during the college Rob interned on the
House Armed Services Committee and for Congressman Duncan Hunter. With
the launching of Lauer Properties, a business Rob started while at
USC, he began his private sector career in real estate. During his
years as a young man in Southern California he excelled as a leader
in the community, earning the praise of elected officials for his
efforts to rid neighborhoods of gangs and drugs. Rob was also active
as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Lincoln Clubs, Rotary, and
numerous other public service organizations. His civic involvement
extended into the political realm where he volunteered for a number
of local, state, and congressional candidates.
In
2005 Rob put his businesses career on hold when he answered the call
of our country by enlisting in the U.S. Army. Rob graduated from
Basic Training in 2005, followed by graduation from the U.S. Army
Military Police School where he subsequently joined the 314th
MP Company.
Rob’s
military career was cut short from an injury to his back that he
sustained while deploying to Iraq in April of 2008. He was flown to
the USC Spine Center for surgery and recovery that lasted three
months. Three months later he applied to rejoin his unit in Iraq but
was turned down do to his injury. He did go on subsequent missions
including guarding critical shipping ports with his MP Unit. He was
honorably discharged by the Army in 2011 from the Army Reserves.
Never
to be one to sit idly, he joined the McCain presidential effort for
the last three months of the campaign.
In
2010 he ran for the 3rd
Congressional District of Nevada but voluntarily stepped aside and
joined his Republican opponent Joe Heck rather than risking splitting
the ticket, to ensure the defeat of the Democrat who had just voted
for Obamacare.
As
a serial entrepreneur, Rob continues his work in Nevada as a real
estate professional.
Following
Rob’s struggles to get medical services for his own injuries from
the Army and the VA Rob started the Warrior Legal Defense Fund as
strong advocate for the welfare of our veterans. It is that ongoing fight along with
witnessing numerous battle buddies who have had their own legal
challenges during and following their military service that Rob
decided to start WLDF to create a one stop shop legal service center
committed to serving all troops with the best lawyers in the Country
whether they could afford it or not. No one is turned away because of
their inability to pay.
Rob
is the proud father of William, who is in College and about to
graduate this year.
